Weds July 19: SG Presents featuring Justin Orok and Sarah Greene

This coming Wednesday’s edition of Sarah Greene presents will feature an opening set by Justin Orok (accompanied by Sarah Lounsbury on piano) followed by a set by me (accompanied by Paul Kolinski on guitar and Ally Corbett on violin). Justin is an amazing songwriter and guitarist, and this is our first show as a trio with Ally; gonna be a good one.

Justin Orok is an Ontario-based singer-songwriter, guitarist, and composer. He is best known for his narrative songwriting and creative approach to guitar playing. Orok is a key member of the Toronto-based new folk group, Decoration Day. Their record, Makeshift Future, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the category of “Pushing the Boundaries”, and featured on CBC’s Fresh Air, Indie 88, and more. Orok also released his debut album as a solo artist, Kanata, in October 2022. The record was positively received locally as well as abroad, and was featured in Japan’s Tower Records and multiple year-end lists. This song-focused record features musicians including Justin Haynes, Felicity Williams, Christine Bougie, Andrew Downing, Michael Davidson, Jesse Zubot and was produced by Jean Martin (Barnyard Records, Tanya Tagaq). He is currently working on a follow-up record to be released in 2024. Outside of his original projects, Orok has performed as a sideperson with John Southworth & The South Seas, Andrew Downing, Kim Barlow, Roddy Ellias, and many more. He also works as a freelance media composer, songwriter, and music teacher.
