Rogue Residency Show on YouTube March 12; TRANZAC Open Stage Mondays and TRANZAC show Friday, March 18

Rogue Residency

For the past two weeks I have done the musical equivalent of buying myself flowers. I participated in the Rogue Residency – so called because it went rogue after the Banff Songwriting Residency shut down in 2020 at the onset of the pandemic. This was my first songwriting residency, after 20 years or so of writing songs, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity. It has been at home over Zoom, and we have had lunchtime lectures, one on ones with mentors and sharing circles, not unlike the virtual open stages that I’ve been participating in, and yet more nit-picky; a good parallel would be writing groups or creative writing workshops or classes. I’m still letting it all sink in a bit but it helped open up some creative channels. I wrote two new songs and co-wrote a third one.

We are having our final show tomorrow night (Saturday, March 12) at 7 pm on YouTube, in which the couple dozen or so participating songwriters will share the fruit of their recent labour.

TRANZAC Open Stage Mondays returns to IRL

This coming Monday, March 14 the TRANZAC Open Stage is going back to in person. Eeek! Well, the day had to come. It’s at 8 pm, it’s two songs each. Please bring proof of vaccination and please wear a mask. We’re keeping capacity in the club to approximately 50% still. That’s 30 people in the Southern Cross.

Pictured above is the TRANZAC Harmony, newly repaired by Mike Zimmerman and returned to its place by the Southern Cross sound board.

Friday, March 18 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm Sarah Greene in TRANZAC’s Southern Cross Lounge, PWYC

I am playing my first show in two years next Friday, March 18 from 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm. I’ll be trying out a lot of new songs. As with above, please note proof of vaccination, masking and reduced capacity.
